Norm was brought into the world of Amtgard at the age of 15 at Everfield. He originally joined the Dark Riders two years later (2nd of April 2005), about 2 hours before Pope John Paul II died. This is where Norm's backbone developed. He served as a Minion under Lord Helmet for sponsorship, and under Lord Bartok Rhino after induction until Knoblander VII, when he was awarded the rank of Wraith Walker, a Dark Riders right of passage. Minionship had changed Norm for the better. The laborious tasks and push-ups helped him shed weight, while the social interaction of the company life crafted his debate skills and assertiveness. A year after that, he joined Ferrum Crux as an officer when the Dark Riders folded. He is currently the records sergeant of Ferrum Crux and Squire to Sir Heydeez Harkonnen. Since the beginning of his Amtgard career, Norm's travels have taken him abroad to many kingdoms and parks in Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Missouri.
